Everything you need to communicate with your non-speaking child

It can be hard to access the right support when you have a non-speaking child. I know when my boys were young it was very stressful not knowing how to best support them. All the traditional methods didn't seem to be working. After years of research, trial and error I want to save you time and share the best supports I have found.

If you are looking for fancy PowerPoints and polished presentation this course might not be right for you. However if you are struggling to parent a non-speaking child and looking for someone with lived experience to give you practical strategies to support your child with communication then it is for you.

This course is designed to help you start communicating with your child confidently. Whilst my boys are autistic all of the methods in this course are suitable for any child who is non-speaking.

This is split into bitesize chunks so it is easy to access the information you need quickly. You are also able to revisit the course at anytime.

The course covers:

Communication Basics: How to support early communication and strategies to encourage comprehension and communication.

Attention: Children need to learn to develop attention before they can learn to communicate. Learn about strategies for improving attention including a brief overview of Attention Autism.

Using Visual Aids: Visual information is much easier for people to understand and using visual aids to support comprehension is very important. Look at different types of visual aids and how to use them.

Alternative Communication: Speech is not a requirement for communication. Discover different communication methods with short introductions to Makaton and The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

Interaction: Some children need to learn how to play and or interact with others. Get ideas to support interaction and play.

Visual Learning: When a child communicates differently they will also learn differently. Look at how to use visual learning strategies including the TEACCH method and visual instructions.

In addition there are 12 printables to support the course curriculum.
